Woodland Tree Health Grant

The ‘Woodland Tree Health Restoration’ part of the Woodland Tree Health Grant helps fund the restocking of trees in woodland which have been felled to manage infection from certain tree diseases/pests.  Support is available if trees must be felled due to Chalara dieback of ash (infection must be confirmed by Forestry Commission or Animal Plant and Health Agency (APHA).

Below is an example of funding available as part of the Woodland Tree Health Grant:

  • Tree planting - £1.28/tree
    • Capped at £2750/ha funding for native woodland and £2250/ha for non-native woodland
  • Tree shelters - £1.60/unit
  • Fencing - £4/m
  • Sheep netting £4.90/m
  • Deer fencing £7.20/m

Applications for the Woodland Tree Health Grant are open year-round.  Minimum application size is 0.25ha and land entered into the scheme must be registered to your RPA account and not be receiving payments from any other grants including England Woodland Creation Offer, Countryside Stewardship, Environmental Stewardship.
