The Slurry Infrastructure Grant

The Current First Slurry Infrastructure Grant (Stage One) is open for applications until the 31st January 2023, and we have been advised that even those outside of the “priority area” are encouraged to complete the Stage 1 Eligibility Checker.  The Stage 1 eligibility checker includes completing a slurry storage calculation and an online form.  If you are not successful following the Stage 1 eligibility check, your details will be there for the round 2 application window (we do not currently know the timings of this).

The options available are designed to help you reach the required 6 months storage capacity, and which option you choose will depend on which of the following is most appropriate:

  • replacing stores that are no longer fit for purpose with a new store
  • adding a new store to increase existing capacity
  • expanding an existing store

It is vital that your current slurry storage, if wishing to expand or add new alongside current store, meets SSAFO regulations.  Please see link for newsletter article regarding this Is Your Slurry Storage Meeting SSAFO Regulations? - Farm Consultancy (fcgagric.com).

You must fit your grant funded store with an impermeable cover, unless you are installing a slurry bag or you treat your slurry through acidification.

You can use this grant for slurry stores including tanks, lagoons and concrete stores fitted with impermeable covers and large permanent bags.  The grant will also fund items necessary for the basic functioning of new or expanded slurry stores, such as reception pits, slurry pumps and agitators.

You can find further information on the capital items available on the link below:

Funding available £25,000-£250,000.
